The First Private University in Cross River State Starts With 120 Pioneering Students
The first private university, ‘Arthur Jarvis University’, has taken off in Cross River State with over 120 pioneering students  to pursue programmes in various field of discipline.

Vice chancellor of the institution, Prof. Julian Osuji campus’ who formally unveiled the university logo and declared the first matriculation ceremony open stated that the over 120 students were admitted into the school to pursue programmes in various fields of human endeavour ranging from Basic, Applied and social sciences.

the University, located in Akpabuyo local government area of Cross River, and named as ‘Prof. Julian Osuji campus’ was fully prepared to churn out quality graduates.

The Head of Service of the Federation Mrs. Winifred Oyo-Ita, who had also joined the  VC to declared the university opened, said she was glad to witness the take-off of the first private university in Cross River State.

She lauded the proprietor of the university, Mr Arthur-Jarvis Archibong for the lofty initiative, said that with the university, the socio-economic lives of the host community and the entire people of Cross River State will be improved.

And that investment in education was the surest way to take a people from the doldrums of abject poverty stressing that with education was the only weapon which the people can use to fight and defeat poverty.

His Royal Majesty, Ekpo Okon Abasi-Otu,The Obong of Calabar, charged the people of Cross River State to emulate the virtues of proprietor of the institution by coming home to invest particularly in the educational sector to pull the state from her status of being rated as educationally disadvantaged state.
