Ondo APC Crisis: Olusola Oke Set to Decamp to APGA

Ondo APC Crisis: Olusola Oke Set to Decamp to APGA
Should the Appeal Panel Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Ondo State governorship primary election uphold the results of the election held on September 3, 2016, which produced Chief Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), as the party’s candidate, one of the aggrieved aspirants, Chief Olusola Oke will join the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as its gubernatorial candidate.

Some of the aspirants who contested the governorship ticket of the APC had petitioned the Appeal Panel Committee headed by Mrs. Helen Bendega demanding the cancelation of the result of the primaries.

Among those who submitted their petitions to the panel were Chief Olusola Oke, Senator Ajayi Borofice, Akinwale Akingbade and Segun Abraham. They alleged that fake delegates list was used during the primaries among other irregularities.

Akeredolu had polled 669 votes to defeat Olusegun Abraham, Akeredolu’s closest rival and the aspirant believed to be the choice of the National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who scored 635 votes.
Olusola Oke polled 576, Senator Robert Borrofice, 471; Tayo Alasoadura, 206; Bode Ayorinde, 67; Jumoke Ajasin-Anifowose, 1; Tunji Abayomi, 5; Jamiu Afolabi, 44; Adefemi Mayowa, 13; Ayo Akinyelure, 3; Adekunle Adekunle, 8; Adegbonmire Adebiyi, 8; Olabimtan Victor, 18; Tunji Ariyomo, 2; and Oyewunmi Taiwo, 7.

Source very close to Olusola Oke disclosed that he (Oke) was only waiting for the outcome of the Appeal Panel Committee assignment before announcing his next move, which will definitely be defection to APGA should Akeredolu be affirmed as the party candidate.

Olusola Oke, who was the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the 2012 governorship election in Ondo State, surprised many political pundits when he left the PDP for APC after the 2015 presidential election.

He proved many bookmakers wrong by polling 576 votes in the primary despite being a new entrant in the party.

Already, his campaign posters bearing APGA are already being circulated on the social media.
