Nigerian's Legal Finest File in Lawsuit Against The Top Foreign R&B Star

Nigerian's Legal Finest File in Lawsuit Against The Top Foreign R&B Star
The lawsuit, filed by Nigerian entertainment lawyer, Lydia Agu (Hills) seeks unspecified damages, for what is the latest in a steady pattern of sexual misconduct accusations against 51 year old R. Kelly.

Ms. Rodgers remained in a relationship with Mr. Kelly for about a year, during which he “routinely engaged in intimidation, mental, verbal and sexual abuse, during and after sexual contact.” According to the complaint, it was “behavior designed to humiliate, embarrass, intimate and shame her.” Mr. Kelly also regularly recorded Ms. Rodgers without her consent during sex, she said, and often kept her locked in secluded areas to punish and control her.

According to a New York Times report, a woman who says she was 19 when she began a relationship with R. Kelly sued the singer on Monday in a Manhattan court, alleging sexual battery, false imprisonment and failure to disclose a sexually transmitted disease, according to the filing.

For two decades, Kelly has faced claims that he targets and abuses underage girls. In the lawsuit, filed on Monday, May 21, 2018, Faith A. Rodgers, a Texas woman, said she met the singer last March in Texas. Mr. Kelly arranged for her to fly to New York, where he “initiated unwanted sexual contact” in a hotel room, according to the complaint, including “non-consensual oral and vaginal intercourse.” The singer did not tell Ms. Rodgers, now 20, that he was infected with herpes — a criminal act — and she contracted the disease, the lawsuit says.

Attorney Lydia Agu (Hills) alleged in the complaint that for nearly one year, Mr. Kelly “routinely engaged in intimidation, mental, verbal and sexual abuse, during and after sexual contact.” Mr. Kelly also regularly recorded Ms. Rodgers without her consent during sex, and often kept her locked in secluded areas to punish and control her.

“No woman, especially an underaged woman, should have to experience this type of abuse and humiliation,” says Attorney Agu Hills. “It is my goal to not only seek justice for my client but to hopefully put an end to this behavior which has somehow been going on for so many years. R. Kelly is one of the most talented R&B singers the world has come to know, but enough is enough.”
