 When it feels like all you do is work, eat, sleep and repeat- life can get a little tedious. We all have to work to earn money to live, but there needs to be more to our existence than that.

Making the most of the free time you have such as at the evenings and weekends allows you to improve your skills, make new friends and break up the monotony of routine. And what better way to do that than with a creative hobby?

Better still, most hobbies these days have the potential to earn you a little extra cash too- and earning money doing something you love is never a bad thing! Here are some ideas to get you started.

Music

Knowing how to play an instrument is incredibly impressive, and mastering your instrument of choice is a great hobby within itself. Working through the grade levels and perfecting different songs can give you a huge sense of achievement.

If you wanted a more social aspect or to take it further, why not play with others? It could be as part of an orchestra, or you could find some likeminded people online and create a band where you could play local gigs together.

Music doesn’t have to be all traditional instruments either, you could use computer software and produce music or create tracks online. If you create something that people love, it might even get picked up to be used somewhere on tv, radio or online!

Writing

Gardening might not be the most obvious choice of hobby when it comes to earning money, but there are lots of ways you can earn a little cash from your passion. You could grow edible or medicinal plants for example.

When it comes to cooking you can be flexible in your methods, but baking is a science. It takes precision, and not everyone can bake well. If you’re an excellent baker, why not make a bit of money with your hobby?

People are always in need of cakes for things like birthdays, weddings, christenings and more so you have plenty of opportunity to earn cash doing what you love. As well as tasty cakes you will need to be able to beautifully decorate them.
