Fun In The Sun: Creating Your Family's Summer Bucket List

With Christmas feeling like a lifetime ago and the worst of the winter weather finally behind us- now is the time to start planning for the year ahead!

When the sun comes back out, it provides endless opportunities for fun outdoors, and when the days feel longer, and the weather is warmer, there’s lots you can do with your family. Looking for ideas? Here are a few fun ideas you could consider adding to your family’s bucket list this summer.

Fun In The Sun: Creating Your Family's Summer Bucket List

Go To The Beach

A day out at the beach is the perfect family activity. Eating ice cream, making sand castles, collecting seashells and swimming in the ocean. There’s plenty you can do to keep busy during the day. If you want to try something different, how about going paddleboarding?

You can either kneel on the board and paddle with your hands or try ‘SUP’ which is stand up paddleboarding. If you’re in a tourist area, there might be a surf shop with the equipment to hire. Otherwise, all you really need is a board, paddle, wetsuit and booties for grip and support.

You could check out reviews of the best surf booties and other equipment online before making a purchase. If you prefer to keep your feet on solid ground, you could arrange a game of volleyball instead to get everyone moving!

Go on a Bike Ride

When the sun is out, why not head out to the countryside or to a park to ride your bikes? It’s something all the family can get involved in, and provides you all with some light exercise. You could pack a picnic with you and make a day of it, or stop off at cute cafes and coffee shops along the way.

If you have a look online, you’ll probably be able to find set bike trails to go along too, this is useful as you can stick to the paths and not get lost or end up somewhere that’s difficult to ride your bikes over!

Go Camping

Camping is inexpensive and allows you to get back to nature. You could pitch a tent or hire an RV and enjoy a night cooking food on a barbecue and looking up at the stars. Camping teaches kids new skills and gets them away from their screens.

You can even bring your family dog camping with you, which is useful if you don’t like sending them to boarding kennels when you go away!

Visit a Pick Your Own Farm

Picking your own produce is always fun, and there are farms dotted all over which allow you to do this. It’s a great way to get kids involved with healthy food, and if you have picky eaters it might well spur them on to eat some of it too!

In the summer there are loads of great fruits and vegetables in season, so you won’t be short on choice.

What’s on your family’s bucket list this summer? Will you be doing any of these activities?
