If you’re seeking adventure, then don’t limit yourself to the dry land. After all, with more than a third of the planet covered by water, there’s a whole new world of excitement to be discovered beneath the ocean waves.

You don’t need to be a great deep sea diver, plunging to ever darker depths, to enjoy the wonders of the ocean (although, if that’s your thing, then go for it). From novice to experienced scuba professional, there are hundreds of ways in which you can enjoy the myriad of life that exists under the sea.

We’ve picked out just a few of the ways that you might want to consider to ensure you get the very best underwater experience possible.

Snorkelling

If you’re not too keen on exploring the depths, then don’t worry, because there’s an astonishing array of things to see just below the surface of the oceans and seas around the globe.

There are some remarkable snorkeling hotspots around the world, each one offering an abundance of life. From Islamorada in the Florida Keys to the lagoons on the coast of Mauritius. Or maybe the wondrous colours beneath the Red Sea, the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean, or, of course, the majestic underwater expanse of Australia’s Great Barrier Reef.

PADI Courses

You may have the burning desire to head deeper down into the world’s watery depths. Well, if this is the way you want to go, then learning to become a SCUBA diver is your best bet.

Yes, you may well find that some companies in far flung places in the world will offer ‘tasters’ when it comes to putting on the breathing apparatus and heading under the water.  But to fully appreciate the remarkable sensation of swimming and underwater exploration, then you really need to learn how to do it properly, the official way.

PADI courses are the officially recognised pathway to becoming a qualified SCUBA diver and are available pretty much all over the world. Courses last anywhere to a few days to a few months – depending on how you opt to take it. And once qualified you can safely join SCUBA dives anywhere you may be travelling.

The Right Equipment

Whether SCUBA, snorkelling or any other innovative ways to explore and enjoy the world beneath the water, then having the right gear can make the whole experience that much more memorable.

Naturally, when diving, ensuring that your apparatus and related equipment is in full working order is a prerequisite to a safe dive. But there’s also the enjoyment factor to consider.

Quality and accurately sized flippers make your movement through the water so much easier, helping you exert less energy as you swim.

While having a quality watersports mask that remains watertight and allows for unhindered vision, will not only make the experience safer and more comfortable, but it allows you to fully soak up the amazing scenery and wildlife you’ll encounter when exploring the underwater environment.

There are so many incredible experiences to enjoy underwater. Heading to the right destination, with the right equipment and the right skills, knowledge and qualifications will mean you’ll want to head back time and time again.
