The very colourful closing ceremony witnessed a vibrant and spectacular showcase of the Brazilian arts and culture. Athletes from around the world also flew their countries’ flags in a fun parade at the ceremony.
The event also featured the official unveiling of Tokyo, Japan as the host city for the 2020 Olympics with Thomas Bach, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) President handing over the Olympic flag to Tokyo governor Yuriko Koike.
This was followed by a 12-minute showcase of Tokyo’s beautiful culture.
