You shouldn’t have to peer at your phone every time you get a message or an incoming call. All you should have to do is look at the screen and read it easily. However, some phones aren’t conducive to that because of the screen size. 

The graphics are also pretty poor, but that is a different story for a different day. The screen and the font size should be big enough for you to read any text that comes up on the screen. Just imagine trying to work or watch videos off of a screen that is tiny.

With that in mind, opt for a phone that has a decent amount of storage, yet nothing too big. For example, an unlocked phone will work abroad as you can connect to a variety of providers. And, you can reduce your travel costs by connecting to the one with the lowest roaming charges.

 It is much better to find an unlocked phone than one that is locked. Still, you can always read a how to unlock a SIM manual and do it yourself. It isn’t a deal breaker, but it is a better option if it is available.

There are subtle differences between both operating systems, one being the apps. Some people also find that Apple is too restrictive. Android or other operating systems' apps, for example, won’t work on an Apple phone.
