A 26 Year old beverage distributor at Dompec Global Resources in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, Chukwuma John met his final demisee on Wednesday 18 May when a trigger happy civil defence officer opened fire on him along Ikot Ekpene road.
Reports gathered that officers of the Nigeria Security & Civil Defence Corps mounted a stop and search operation along Ikot Ekpene road and when the stopped the vehicle of the deceased with registration number, XC 225UYY, which had four occupants, the asked the driver to park properly and immediately one of the officer opened fire on the vehicle killing on of the occupant at the spot.
The van was later driven to the NSCDC office at Ekpanya Street and the case reported to the police.
Commenting on the matter, the NSCDC Commandant, Obiajulu Obiageli, expressed sadness over the
incidence and assured that the culprit will be fished out and brought to book.
