5 Common Ways To Get Pulled Over By The Cops

At some point or another, some of us might get pulled over by the cops. Sometimes, we’ve done nothing wrong, but at others, we’re guilty. Unfortunately, this happens all too often, and it’s normally for silly reasons. Today, we’re going to take a look at five examples of this. Don’t get yourself into these situations, or the consequences could be severe.

Speeding
It’s safe to say that if you’re speeding and a cop sees you, you’re going to get pulled over. By this point, you might have sped through any number of speed cameras, racking up a big fine and license points in the process. However, the cops might take an even more serious view, slapping an even bigger fine on you or ban you from driving. Don’t be tempted to speed in any circumstances. It’s just not worth it, and you’re putting other road users at risk.

DUI
In this day and age, no one should be driving under the influence. However, it’s still one of the most common reasons for getting pulled over. There are numerous rules about what classifies as a DUI, and you can read more about this online if you’re unsure. However, the best way to ensure you don’t get slapped with a DUI is to stay away from alcohol when you’re the driver. One pint of beer might just be too much for your body to handle.

Poor Maintenance
Another reason why you might get pulled over is that you’re not maintaining your car correctly. This isn’t such a big deal if it’s because one of your tail lights are out. In this case, the cops are likely pulling you over to warn you of the situation rather than confront you. It’s a different story if your tyres are the wrong tread depth, or your tax is out of date. You can get in trouble for poor maintenance like this, so make sure you’re always maintaining your car to the required standard.

Poor Driving
Poor driving, in general, can be a reason for getting pulled over by the cops. This means swerving all over the road, failing to adhere to signs and speeding through traffic lights that are red. There are all sorts of ways you can get pulled over for poor driving, so don’t let it happen. If you need to, look over the highway code. I bet there are all sorts of signs on the road that you aren’t sure about, right? Re-educate yourself, and you won’t have the worry the next time a cop car starts tailing your car.

Suspicious Behavior
The cops will pick up on any suspicious behavior on your part. If a cop car is behind you, relax! You should have no reason to feel tense; they’re just doing their job. Don’t drive when you’re excessively tired, either, as it can it make your driving erratic. Of course, the biggest danger of this is the damage you could do to yourself and others.

Remember; the cops are there to make sure everyone stays safe. If you’re asked to pull over by the cops, don’t panic.
