The Miss Nigeria Beauty Pageant, Nigeria’s oldest and most recognized pageant is back again with its 39th Edition!


This iconic event will take place on Saturday 7th November 2015 at The Oriental Hotel, Lagos. This year’s Miss Nigeria pageant received over 1800 applications from girls who entered the competition from all over the country, vying to hold the title. Having gone through a rigorous selection process, 36 contestants have been chosen as finalists.

Theme for this year’s event is 'Metamorphosis' ... as beauty and brains blossom.

The pageant will see the finalists move to Lagos where they will be filmed for a week as they go to boot camp to engage in activities from entrepreneurial training, mentoring from business leaders and female leaders, as well as take time to prepare for the contest by learning choreography and being treated to health and beauty treatments in time for the grand finale.

The week’s activities will be broadcast on television and segments shown during the pageant at Oriental Hotel.

Bowing out gracefully is Ezinne Akudo Anyaoha, the current title holder who won Miss Nigeria in 2013. Along with the coveted prize of the Miss Nigeria title, she won a cash prize of N3 million, a brand new car and a one year stay at luxury apartment, with an all expenses paid trip to California.

Ezinne during her reign graduated from Law School immediately after completing her law degree, finding time to launch her NGO The Eight Foundation dedicated to supporting female victims of sexual violence.

A legacy of Nigeria’s oldest newspaper, Daily Times of Nigeria, The Miss Nigeria Beauty Pageant was founded in 1957. Previous notable winners include Grace Oyelude 1957, YemiI dowu 62, Helen Prest 79, Binta Sukai 90, Vien Tetsola 2000, Sylvia Edem 2002 ,Ene Lawani 2004 to the current title holder Ezinne Akudo Anyaoha 2013.  These women represent a legacy of iconic women, that are proudly Nigerian.

Participants wereselected from cities across the nation including Enugu, Port Harcourt, Benin, Calabar, Abuja Lagos and internationally from the UK and USA.
