Africa Magic Go, Multichoice’s streaming service for Africans living abroad, is shutting down on November 30, 2015.
The Africa Magic Go team announced
the plan to shut down their services in a message sent to their
subscribers. However, reasons for this decision were not stated in the
message.
Africa Magic Go was launched in 2014
as a streaming service dedicated to bringing the programmes on the
Africa Magic channel to Africans living abroad.
The service, had the same $8 pricing plan as IrokoTV. In fact, Jason Njoku acknowledged them as competition.
What will become of the service now
remains unknown, as their message to subscribers only states that they
“are working on something bigger, bolder, better and even more proudly
African.”
We do not yet know how long the service’s cancellation has been in the works. However, the last time @AfricaMagicGo sent out a tweet was on June 2, 2015. Before then, the account was averaging three tweets per day.
