Iran international football players Ashkan Dejagah and Sardar Azmoun are to face suspensions because their tattoos are against Islamic values.
News reports on Monday said that Dejagah, who plays at Qatar's A-Arabi, and Rostov's Azmoun will have to report to the ethics commission of the nation's governing body FFI after Tuesday's 2018 World Cup qualifier against India in Bangalore.
They reportedly face a suspension or a fine and commission chief Ali Akbar Mohammedsadeh said that they must play in long sleeved shirts in the future.
The FFI ethics commission dismisses tattoos and extravagant hairstyles as "western cultural invasion" and not conform with Islamic values.
National team footballers should not wear these symbols because they are role models.
