A Chinese man fell to his death on Sunday after falling from a tightrope that snapped 50 meters above a gorge in Hunan Province in China.
Yu Lixin, a manager of the program, said the dead man was a 40-year-old man from Shaanxi Province, and was only identified as Yang.
The tightrope snapped as Yang and his partner surnamed Xu, were in the middle. Yang fell to the bottom of the gorge while Xu hung onto the rope, suffering just minor bruises.
The accident took place while the two men were performing the extreme sport, ‘tightrope biking.’ The sporting event requires two people to work in pairs, with one of them riding on a bike attached to a tightrope, while the other one hangs underneath the biker.
A police investigation uncovered that the equipment was produced by a Henan-based company, whose manager has been taken into custody.
