A Lecturer In CRUTECH Arrested For Alleged Extortion Of students
A lecturer, Steven Takim who was arrested last Monday for allegedly collecting illegal monies from students might be sacked from office on grounds of extortion.

Takim, a lecturer of the department of Mechanical Engineering, was arrested while lecturing students on the 4th of August. Sources told Cross Wire that he asked students to pay the sum of one thousand five hundred naira before they could submit their assignments. Students who did not, had their assignments rejected.

When attempts to dissuade him failed, a small group of embittered students protested to the Vice Chancellor who then ordered his arrest, sources say.
A student who begged anonymity said that “He (Takim) forces a twenty five thousand naira charge on all his project students that must be paid into his account. Also, students who fail his course pay fifty thousand naira to have their grades changed.”
A Fellow lecturer of the department who spoke with journalists said “We have warned Takim severally about his unfortunate behavior and the man refused to change. What has befallen him, though unfortunate should serve as good riddance to his rubbish. Since his pursuit of a corrupt and ignoble lifestyle has brought him this far, let him face the shame of his actions, that is if he has any shame at all.”
The recent development concurs with Vice Chancellor prof. Anthony Enoh’s campaign against corruption in CRUTECH.

The 13th matriculation exercise of the University comes up on the 12th and 13th of August in all four campuses of the institution.
