All fingers were pointing towards Liverpool midfielder, Jordan Henderson to be the new captain of the club after the departure of club's legend Steven Gerrard.
Henderson has grown in influence since joining Liverpool in a £16million move from Sunderland four years ago.
The England international carried out captaincy duties on a number of occasions in Gerrard's absence last season.
He told the club's official website:
"I'm
absolutely delighted and proud. It is a great honour and a huge privilege to be
named as the captain of this football club".
Biggest honour of my career so far being captain of this great football club. Thank you for all your support #YNWA
