Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner: What Went Wrong?

They’ve been having marital problems for years and Sadly, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner just couldn’t save their marriage. 

Ben Affleck, 42, and Jennifer Garner, 43, have thrown in the towel after a 10-year marriage that was impossible to save. Sure, they went to counseling and worked extra hard to repair their relationship, “but it wasn’t enough,” an insider disclosed. So what exactly went wrong between Ben and Jen, and why couldn’t they put their differences aside to reconcile? Here’s the scoop.

“The trouble in their relationship has been brewing for years. The main issue is that Jen wanted to change Ben. She was immensely attracted to Ben from early on and their chemistry back on Daredevil was insane. He was a bad boy but she thought he wanted to put those days behind him and be a doting father and husband. To Ben’s credit, he’s a great dad and he really tried to be a terrific husband but it never came easy to him. After a while those bad habits came back,” Sadly, it seems like Ben and Jen had just drifted apart and ultimately were not happy with each other.

“He wanted to gamble and drink and flirt with beautiful actresses. Ben seemed to look forward to those weeks away from home working on set. He could do what he wanted and relax, which made it all the more difficult to come home and to Jen,” our insider continues. The most heartbreaking part about Jen and Ben’s divorce is that they have three kids,  Violet, 9, Seraphina, 6, and Samuel, 3, and Jen desperately fought to keep their marriage from falling apart for the sake of their kids.
