The prime minister of Chad Kalzeube Deubet, announced yesterday that the country will start rounding up of foreigners.
This is in reaction to the recent Boko Haram attacks in N’Djamena. As a result of two suicide bombings in the countries capital killing 37 people
According to NAN, the Chadian officials further disclosed that those detained would be placed at centres in Baga Sola on the shores of Lake Chad. He, however, did not provide any details regarding who would be targeted during the raids.
Deubet stated that they wanted to get rid of terrorists “once and for all”.
It was reported yesterday that Chad warplanes had invaded Nigerian airspace, carrying out airstrikes on Boko Haram camps based in Nigeria.
Meanwhile The Nigerian Defence Headquarters dismissed the information saying: “the territory of Nigeria has not been violated as insinuated in the reports circulated in some foreign media.”
Chad is a member of the Multinational Joint Task Force fighting against Boko Haram. Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari visited the country immediately after his inauguration to discuss ways of tackling insurgency in the area.
On Wednesday night the Militants also attacked one of Nigeria’s ally, Niger, killing 38 people. Women and children were also affected.
